Rockaway Beach had their first fatality of 2020 on Friday when a 24 year old got swept out to sea by a rip current. This unfortunately, happens a lot on the Rockaway Peninsula.

Even though the beaches are open, there are no lifeguards on duty and swimming is prohibited this Memorial Day weekend.
